Hi Harish,
A disclaimer: I am no sysad. I am familiar with Unix/Solaris environment as
a user/developer.

Setting up a DNS server should be easy

Flash Archive based backup is best for Solaris based systems. I would
recommend you to do a backup and then a restore to make sure you are
comfortable with the approach. (Check in docs.sun.com).
The server maybe setup as an NIS server and all other unix systems as NIS
clients so that the users can log into the system using the users created on
the NIS server.

There are quite a few people on linux-india-help at lists.sourceforge.net well
versed with "sysad"/"setting up a server for such purposes" activities. You
may give it a try.
In all the above server task will be undertaken by one machine SUN x4100

Flash archive based backup doesnot(as yet) support zones. So, incase you use
zones, you'll need a different backup mechanism.
My first step is to document on how I will go about setting up each of

Apart from the specific howtos, you might want to get inputs from other
sysads to get the right policy level information (backup/rescue,
authentication mechanisms, user management, security, etc).
