All this can be done on one x4100 provided the number of clients isn't too
high. I am no sizing expert, but if it is not more than 10-20 clients,

DNS -> http://www.charvolant.org/~doug/network/html/node10.html
NIS/nis+/ldap -> name services, builtin or download openldap server
kerberos -> for authentication, builtin
nfs -> file serving, builtin
samba -> file,print serving, download
imap/pop[x] -> server based e-mail, download http://www.washington.edu/imap/

All the above interoperates with windows without trouble.

backup -> no idea

You will find ample help on the net [and docs.sun.com] for all these topics.
If you are totally stuck this ug and other ugs along with forums and mailing
lists are open. I don't think your task is sweat-breakingly big, except for the
backup part ofcourse  ;-)

You haven't told us whether you are looking at a complete open and free (as
in zero cost) solaris based solution. If there is money to be spent, you can do
no harm by looking at a JES subscription.
