Newfs does not require any size as argument.. just the device node. Are you
sure it is ufs formatted?Do as root:

#fstyp <usb device node>

The device node can be obtained from the o/p of 'rmformat'

- cp * from /.cdrom was unable to copy /boot/solaris/bin/root_archive and

This is expected.. not a problem.

Then I tried to reboot, but none of my computers is able to boot the stick.

The PC will not automatically boot from the USB, you will have to select it
as the first boot device from the BIOS.

If you have done this, then grub may not be (properly) installed.. thus the
issue. It could also be that the USB is not formatted as ufs.

The other issue I can think of is both the PCs you tried do not support USB
boot (very smal chance, but well..)
