You are a  genius, Moinak,  or a  master at  guess work  ;-) 
Your suggestions were spot on !!!

I turned off the "Legacy USB support" in the BIOS, and I could
boot into Belenix. The normal boot worked, non-ACPI got stuck.
But then, I can now start playing around.

Is there any  way I can install Belenix itself  on HDD ? Would
not mind giving Belenix a good  whirl for the first time ... I
need to move now beyond Nexenta.
