I think not. We're all savvy enough for English, and participating in
the world level community would give a wider exposure to Indians.

I think a related problem would be helping regional groups thrive.
Assume the Hyderabad SUG, and some SUGs in the future at places like
Patna, Chandigarh, etc. Helping those group survive and receive help
would be required to help (forgive the punt) sustain interest in
Solaris in India.

Solaris UGs are unique in India. My perception is that most of the Sun
folks interested in Solaris are on bosug. Perhaps the Sun membership
is not so much on the other Indian SUGs (Just a guess).

Speaking for POSUG (Pune based), it helps having a BOSUG member like me around.

Some options that I see are :

1. An India level mailing list (meaning a new list)
All are welcome.
Pros:
You get exposure to Indians across the country.
Less of a headache for Sun too.
Post UG meet announcements on this list.
Cons:
Discussions at a city level - directions, who's attending a meet,
what would we like to have in a meet - > All of these will be on the
same list, and some/most may not want so much traffic.

2. Regional/City level mailing lists
Encourage people to form local discussion groups, and to also
visit other groups.
Pros: Keeps city level mail traffic within the city rather than
broadcasting it across the country.

Cons: Experienced members from other lists such as the BOSUG will have
to be members of such SUGs too. This will be required until expertise
similar to Linux is available for Solaris in India.
