Hi,
I'm running into funny situations here..
I boot up solaris, been a couple of weeks since the last time, due to exams.
Anyway start off firefox, hit slashdot.. and start waiting.
The site doesnt come up, and its in the tranferring mode.. meanwhile my
modem's traffic led is going berseck. A quick look at the connection
properties applet tells me 2 mb has already been downloaded! and going. I
quickly check if any other app's running. No. I check the automatic upgrade
options for firefox, and they're all set to 'no'.
Things start getting real funny now. While I sit puzzled, I wonder if
someone has already faced a similar issue, and fire up google.com. And now
my internet is down. the modem is in connected mode. I try to fire up gaim,
and even it cannot resolve host. I restart X (ctrl+alt+backspace), and
login. Now my connection seems to be back.
I login to gmail to report this to bosug. and the connection seems to be
down again! Oh did I mention the other 2 mb that seem to have been
downloaded.
#ifconfig -a
lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232
index 1
inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
rtls0: flags=201000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,CoS> mtu 1500
index 2
inet 192.168.1.5 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255
ether x:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
I think that looks fine.
I have no idea what happened. I rebooted and noticed the same behavior
(something being d/led, disconnection after a few minutes, restarting X sets
the connection back temporarily, and sometimes not)
Is there any command that'll allow me to monitor the connections, and what
is using my bandwidth, and why the disconnection?
Regards
Anil
