Brilliant ! Thanks  for the link, Sriram.  Though strictly for
x86 systems,  it ran  flawless on both  XP and  Linux (2.6.x).
Under Linux don't be put off with the notice that it runs only
under RH4, FC5,  SuSE-10, and Ubuntu-6.06. Mine is  an old LFS
6.1 system running on Kernel 2.6.11.12 - and it ran just fine.

The only crib is that the link is of a jnlp file, which runs a
jar file  (sddt_1_0.jar) with  no access  to the  source. This
kind of thing is ideal; if you want to make your app behave as
per  detected hardware  !!!  There are  two  databases in  the
backend  (driver.db.zip  and  pci.ids.zip) which  seem  to  be
providing the masaala !
