Well i sorted that problem of shell . But now i have new problems creeping in my system.
I used the prtpart by moinak and i was able to successfully mount ntfs drive on my secondary harddisk. It was cool. I wanted the OS to mount this drive at boot up automatically. So i added this entry into the vfstab file
/dev/dsk/c0d1p1 - /mnt/oldcdrive pcfs - yes -
and typed mountall .The system just hanged after i typed the command. I restared the system by typing Ctrl+Alt+Del. But in the next boot it gave some error.
I can't give you all the details of the message but will give you the gist so that you can make something out of it.
it went something like this,
mount: #pf page fault error
followed by some text and numbers. I couldn't make anything out of it.
in the end it displayed
[2] [2] [2] [2] and so on, then it
said that some 12789 pages dumped. 2.87 compression ratio or something like that.
After that it just restarted. This happened at every reboot.
So, i tried entering the fail_safe mode. I can get a login shell there but if i see the vfstab entry there it has no entry for the c0d1p1 which i had placed.
Now i take off the primary disk ( which has solaris and by the way i had lost all data in my primary disk (160GB) trying to install solaris ) and try to boot the windows in the secondary disk ( the one i had placed an entry in the vfstab ). It won't boot. It gave some error. I had to get into safe mode and restore my system to some previous date and here i am typing this to you.
Tell me how do i get my system back to normal. Just when i had internet up and running in my solaris this happens :( .
