Let me rephrase my requirement. I have huge set of files that I have
tagged/classified based on 3 or 4 different criteria. Can I install these
files without writing a huge set of if conditions in the preinstall?

So ultimately a file needs to be there in one class only. Class is not the

The classes concept seemed to suit my need. But as I get to use it, this
doesn't seem to be the case. I see the point you are making.
Coming back to my requirement. Is there any support from the packaging
framework.
It is simple enough to write it in preinstall, but it is manual work that
can be avoided if this information can be provided in the form of metadata
(easier to maintain incase of changes).

thanks and regards
