[ug-bosug] Ideas for bosug

Hi,

The hackathon idea is cool. I know that *BSD and Gentoo folks have
similar kind of events.
But I also feel that it may be a little early for this. To be successful
in this event we need
familiarity with OpenSolaris to build up sufficiently high among the group.

To add to this we were also thinking of having an installfest for Bosug
members which might be
a good starting point. Folks can bring in their laptops and even their
desktops (without monitors
and keyboards) and get the latest OpenSolaris installed/configured. It
will require quite a bit of
planning. Due to the logistics involved (hardware, net connection, etc.)
this cannot be held inside
SUN office. We cannot connect outside machines into SWAN.

So this needs to be held at someone's place where there is good
broadband(unlimited ?) and
power connection. Extra monitors and keyboards and UPSes need to be
arranged etc.

Organizing this will give us a feel for the technicalities and logistics
involved and will help us to
plan better for a Hackathon next time.

Regards,
Moinak.
