I can get my laptop this weekend, and we can have another machine
connected back to back which could host stuff that we'd otherwise have
to download. I can get the network cable too - I always carry a cable
with me.

I know just what I need to have added - Broadcom network driver,
NVidia Video driver, Laptop tools, Moinak's Gnome customizations. We
could ask other folks to run the HCL tool at the bigadmin site, post
the results and then download drivers for them in advance.

But then, all this would be possible only for laptop users, I think.
Bringing desktops into Sun may indeed not be feasible.
