[ug-bosug] "Solaris vs Linux ?" (Note the double quotes !)

All:

There are all these "Solaris vs Linux ?" talks held here at the
CommunityOne day of the Javaone event.

Some quick observations:
1. Little or no mention of Belenix.
I think we need to publicize Belenix better. With all due respect
to Nexenta, I find that Belenix is way faster that anything else out
there.
Also, Belenix is the perfect answer to use cases of "How do we try
OpenSolaris ?"
I think we need to push for a mention of Belenix at the opensolaris.org site.

2. Ease of install
Ian Murdock, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Murdock) the founder of
Debian, Chair of Linux Standards Base, etc, made a good point when he
showed the Solaris installer asking the user to choose the time zone,
followed by the Redhat anaconda installer asking the user to click on
a city on the world map. He stated that a project called "progeny" did
just this.

I think he has a good point.

3. Packaging improvement.
Here, I felt that Ian Murdock was dancing around the issue - he was
not willing to reveal just what he intended to do at Sun beyond mere
evangelizing. However, he did say that at the upcoming anniversary,
there's be some good announcements.
