A better option for pen drive is to use the usbdump tool to install to
usb. ITs not recommended to use a USB as a hard disk as flash drives
have much lower life, and continuous read write could render the usb
useless.

the tool can be downloaded from
http://in.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=50625&tstart=90
from teh first post. You will need to run this in from the Live CD
after plugging  in usb.
