[ug-bosug] Nevada b78 and my new Acer Aspire 2920 : Lots of questions

Hi All,

I recently bought an Acer Aspire 2920. Ubuntu runs like a charm.

I want to install Nevada b78 on it. ( dual boot it along with Acer-supplied
WinXP)

I want to find out the following

1) How good is the support for the wireless card (Intel PRO/Wireless
3945ABG)
2) Graphics card ( Intel Media Accelerator X3100) ( I suppose this should
work)
3) WebCam ( Acer "CrystalEye" dont know which exact model it is)

And the *biggest* worry

This laptop has the new Intel 965 board ( with Santa Rosa )
This laptop has two different SATA modes AHCI and IDE Emulation
IDE Emulation offers poor performance, but better behaviour on non-Windows
systems.

Firstly i tried installing S10 on the machine ; it printing an error
message on the console and rebooted in a fraction of a second. Thus was
unable to capture the error.

I tried installing SXDE 9/07 on this laptop. I faced similar problems to S10
( Some error msg on the console for a fraction of a second, then reboot)

I know I am not giving a very scientific description of the problem; but
here is what i can tell you about it:

For some reason, in AHCI mode Ubuntu Linux fails to installs ( essentially
mkfs.ext3 hangs while making inodes) for partitions > 160 GB (at install
time only)

Post install however, there is no problem.

Since this the only laptop i have (apart from my trusty assembled box at
home; Anil> thanks for your help with the motherboards! ) , I would be wary
of screwing it up.

Could someone please help me out at the BOSUG meet with this?

Thanks
Manish
