Yes, a willing volunteer! This morning I exchanged emails with Ginnie (
FR-OSUG) and we started to brainstorm some of the resources that would
be cool to have together to help our OpenSolaris User Groups get up and
running.

A few things came to mind and maybe some can be done sooner than
others...but let's see if we can pool some ideas and resources and we'll
get them rounded up into the user group page as soon as we can.

1--Speaker Support....seems like often the hardest part of keeping a
user group vital is in keeping cool speakers in the line up. I'm
thinking through how we can do that ...we need a light weight sort of
request mechanism. What would work for us?

2--Swag--of course! T-shirts!...and Sara is doing a great job of getting
a process/online store in place. We can set up that process so it's a
click sort of thing.

3--A newsletter of sorts--now, maybe that's simply editing the user
group main page so all the user groups can "visit" and read what each
are up to...kind of federating the feeling....ideas?

4--A monthly User Group con call...like a OS-WWUG--just one hour. We can
have special guests attend. Like open source luminaries, or recent
contributors to the OpenSolaris project to discuss their putback... or I
don't know...Madonna! Let's talk about that...any ideas there?

5--Attendee recognition--attendees rack up points that are redeemable
for something special...we have to figure out what that is...maybe it's
special swag, or a profile on the User Group Page...

Any other ideas? This could be some big fun!

ran user groups in a previous life.
