[ug-discuss] ATLOSUG kickoff exceed expectations

Atlanta OpenSolaris User Group held its kickoff meeting last night to
great success. I think we had a great initial meeting. We counted just
over fifty folks in attendance, which far surpassed my expectation.

We had some great suggestions for future meetings and content. With as
many topics and speakers as we have queued up, we may decide that monthy
meetings work better than bi-monthly. The co-founder of the very
successful Atlanta Linux Enthusiast group had a lot of good suggestions
on mechanics for a group. On top of that, we have partners clamoring to
be sponsors of upcoming meetings!

Check in on the ATLOSUG web site at
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/os_user_groups/atl-osug for slides
and photos from last night. And I blogged about the meeting at
http://blogs.sun.com/scottdickson

Just a word of special thanks to the OpenSolaris team at Sun for the
t-shirts and for sponsoring our initial meeting. And special thanks to
Crystal Nichols from ITS for managing logistics. She will be our main
focal point for logistics, sponsorship, etc. while I try to look after
content.

Our next meeting will be at the Student Center, on campus at Georgia
Tech in Atlanta at 7:00PM, Tuesday, January 10. We look forward to
seeing everyone there!
