An OpenSolaris user community is forming in Atlanta. The purpose of the
group is to bring together people who are interested in OpenSolaris,
Solaris, and what is going on with operating systems at Sun. This would
include not just the open source developer, but system admins,
architects, etc.
This group will meet bimonthly, on the 2nd Tuesday of January, March,
May, July, September, November. Meetings will include speakers from the
OpenSolaris community at large, sometimes from Sun, sometimes from other
organizations. Topics will range from "Just what is OpenSolaris,
anyway?" to details around particular features of Solaris, such as
DTrace or even individual device drivers, and any topic in-between.
The kickoff meeting for the Atlanta OpenSolaris User Group will be held
Tuesday, November 8, 2005, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Crowne Plaza
Ravinia. Information regarding the first meeting can be found at the
ATLOSUG web site at
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/os_user_groups/atl-osug/ . Note
that subsequent meetings will be held at the Georgia Tech Student Center.
An email list has been created that interested parties may subscribe to
at http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/ug-atlosug . We will
host discussions, as well as post meeting announcements.
For more information on the group and the meeting, contact Scott Dickson
(scott.dickson at sun.com).
We look forward to the kickoff and hope to get a lively group
established. Please help get the word out by forwarding this to any
interested parties: customers, partners, and anyone else that might be
interested in OpenSolaris and Solaris.
