[ug-discuss] More on User Group Calendar and Support...

Hi everyone--72 hours ago we were chatting about ideas for getting the 
User Groups rolling and how much support Sun might be able to provide to 
help groups get on their feet.

I think we all agree that the groups should be as self-supporting as 
possible, and having special events supported by OpenSolaris would be 
alright. So here's the steps we're taking--

1--OSUG's Marauder's Map
    This will be a "map" that shows locations of user groups, Linked to 
google maps for easy directions...and will also attempt to flag 
locations of members of the community who are on the road, 
when....SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!!

2--OpenSolaris User-paloosa Kit
    This is a kit of giveaways that will be offered to each user group 
for 1 major meeting or event per year. Up to 50 items of swag in each 
kit...signs, to be determined....SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!!


3--WWOSUG Conference Call
     Let's face it...it's fun to all get on the phone for a quick touch 
base. There's something about the human voice! I was thinking about 
organizing a call for week of Sept 21, 2005 (With replay for greater 
timezone coverage...).  We can have a few mins hearing from some of the 
community leaders...and also spend some time on the call for a Q&A with 
a special guest...who would we like to hear from?
