I no longer live in the upper midwest, but it's great to hear that something like this is coming to the area.  I wonder if it could be made available via webcast or put on community radio or public access cable to allow people further from downtown Chicago to participate.

I'm from Racine so I don't know Chicago very well but I think the Chicago Science museum was reasoably accessible via public transportation.

How about naming it the Lake Michigan Open Solaris User Group?
