Interesting!  So, BeleniX works fine under VMWare!

This would essentially be the same as running the LiveCD and making
a change in it.  It would also go away when you do a reboot.  Only
in this case, the LiveCD is running within the virtual machine.

Have you tried running "hdinstaller" within VMWare?  This should
allow you to install BeleniX inside the virtual machine, instead of
just running it inside the VM.
