We'd have to produce them to be part of kits that we'd send out. Well, 
Sun would do this, anyway.

yah, the books are new. They are being translated into a few languages 
now. If people are interested in having them, I'd have to spec out a 
budget for it and we'd make it part of the kit.

Yes, I agree. Already, there are many Sun field offices that participate 
in user groups, which is convenient since there are buildings to meet 
in. Though universities may make good venues, too. And coffee shops. And 
bars. :)

Contact lists are important too. I added names to the leader grid 
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/os_user_groups/osug-leaders/ with 
links to their profiles, but it's up to each person to put in their own 
contact info. Also, I'm trying to get as many people on ug-discuss as 
possible so we all know that there is one location where we can find 
people from around the world. Just this week we added about 90 people to 
ug-discuss.
