Happy new year OpenSolaris Great Lakes User Group!
With help from Chip Bennett and Russell Rezaian, I put together an short
online interest survey. Please take a couple minutes to submit your
input here:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=651241619502
The main part of the survey asks you to indicate your level of interest
(by clicking on low, med, or high) in the following topics:
- BrandZ (Linux Zones)
- Contributing to OpenSolaris
- Driver frameworks and driver development
- FMA (Predictive Self-Healing) and other hardware specific Solaris features
- How DTrace was implemented
- New bootloader for x86
- OpenSolaris logistical basics: Doing one's 1st build; how the source is organized
- Ports and Distros projects (e.g. Blastwave, SchilliX, etc.)
- Resource Management (schedulers)
- Submitting bugs
- Writing DTrace scripts
- Writing SMF manifests
- ZFS
Other than that, there are just two quick multiple choice questions and
a place to enter comments.
We're making tentative plans to have the January meeting on either Tuesday
the 24th or Wednesday the 25th (in the evening of course). And thanks
to a very kind offer from Chip Bennett and Laurus Technologies Inc., it
looks like we'll be able to hold the meeting at their Itasca location
(1091 Hawthorne Drive).
