From the looks of it, the boot-archive updation is causing the symptoms
you mention. The boot-archive is the solaris equivalent of initrd. It
gets updated when the files in the boot-archive and the "/" filesystem
get out of sync (see /boot/solaris/filelist.ramdisk).
The command "bootadm update-archive" is run by reboot to do this stuff.
